The comparison between early child hood care in Malaysia and New Zealand

Nice topic kan?came across lps terbaca cerita mengenai arwah Adelia, baby 2 month yang meninggal di childcare centre di Shah Alam. based on story macam SID : Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Dikabarkan bayi comel ni didapati tak bernafas dan tiada dinyatakan CPR ada dibuat semasa kejadian. Pun ada fluid dalam lung baby ni. It like arwah died of accidental asphyxia, perlu diingatkan bahawa statement ni datang dari homebased mum yang punya 5 anak!.. bukan statement dari pakar perubatan. Aku cuma buat kesimpulan based on story yang aku baca saja.

Di New Zealand , utk buka early child hood centre, all the educators kena ada certificates, diploma, degree is a must! They also need to attends a few compulsory courses such as First Aid and Child hood care. Also a lagi a few cousrses about child minder. Perkara utama yang perlu buat utk jadik child educator ni kena penuhi syarat yang telah ditetapkan oleh Ministry of Education. Wajib ada first aid certificates. Course yg dibuat oleh St John(NZ), makan masa 2 hari, fully course. Di situ kita akan diajar teknik2 first aid utk baby hinggalah ke kanak2Basically sama je dgn first aid dewasa, cuma kalo dgn baby and children, kita kena lagi gentle sbb derang ni kecik lagikan.

The teacher to child ratio for under two years is 1 to 5 and for over two years is 1 to 6.Each centre can not exceed 30 or 45 children per session. Aku yang sebenarnya tak begitu familiar sangat dengan nursery kat Malaysia, tapi based on experinced hanatar anak kat rumah org(pengasuh) mmg sangat2 berbeza dgn situasi kat sini. Di sini pengasuh yg jaga anak org kat rumah sendiri di panggil home based care( Itu yg aku buat sblm dapat Aqeef). Home Based care provides a care service within a trained and approved educator's home. This type of care is for all age groups and will vary from home to home of the educator. The ratio is kept small and the home environment must be set up a meets the education requirements to provide this type of service. That what aku mention earlier utk jadi childcare educator ni bukan senang. Kena diinterview dulu then wakil dr agensi akan buat house inspection, pastikan yg kawasan kediaman kita tu memenuhi syarat2 keselamatandan standard piawaian derang. Mesti ada emergency plan..bunyi macam leceh tapi mmg sangat bagus!!

Aku bagi example antara perkara yg perlu dibuat kiranya menghantar anak ke nursery di sini :

What To Bring Each Day:
In a school bag please pack:

3 x sets of spare clothes; including socks and underwear (named)
A sunhat / warm hat (depending on the season)
A named water bottle
Nappies if required
A comforter for sleep time and to be placed in the sleep room upon arrival
( Tak boleh share!)

Please leave special toys at home as they can get lost or damaged.

What To do in the morning :
Complete the sign out sheet
Collect your child’s bag and any belongings
Collect medicine
Check daily notices on white board in foyer
Check your parent pocket for any notices or invoices
If you wish, have a quick chat with a teacher to find out more about your child’s day
Find your child – if they haven’t found you already!
